Applies to: GuardLink web platform and the GuardLink Android / iOS mobile apps (including the Berkeley GuardLink app on Google Play).

1. Who we are

GuardLink is a security workforce operations platform used by Berkeley UAE (“we”, “us”, “our”) to manage guard attendance, patrols, incidents, visitors, and related site operations. This policy explains what personal and device data the GuardLink app and website collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.

2. Who this app is for

GuardLink is an enterprise / employment tool for authorized security guards, supervisors, and operations staff. Accounts are created by the employer (Berkeley UAE). Users do not self-register in the public app store listing sense; they sign in with credentials provided by their employer.

3. Location data (important)

The GuardLink mobile app accesses and transmits location data. This includes approximate and precise GPS location while you are on duty, including in the background when location tracking is enabled for your shift, so supervisors can verify patrols, attendance, and site coverage.

Location data may include:

Latitude and longitude
Accuracy, speed, and heading (when available)
Timestamps of location updates
Geofence / site check-in context

Location is collected for app functionality (patrol verification, attendance, safety, and operational oversight). It is sent to our servers at security.berkeleyuae.com over HTTPS. We do not sell location data to advertisers or use it for third-party advertising.

4. Device or other IDs

The mobile app may collect a device identifier (for example Android’s ANDROID_ID / hardware device ID) and send it with location and operational updates so we can associate telemetry with the correct device and account for security and accountability purposes.

5. Other data we collect

Depending on how you use GuardLink, we may also collect:

Account / personal info: name, email, user ID, and related employment profile data used to authenticate and assign you to sites and shifts
Photos and videos: images or video you attach to incidents, DARs, patrols, visitor records, or other reports
Audio: voice or sound recordings if you use features such as push-to-talk or media capture that record audio
User-generated operational content: incident reports, patrol notes, attendance events, NFC / checkpoint scans, tasks, and messages needed to run security operations
Technical data: app version, network/session cookies required to keep you signed in, and similar diagnostics needed for reliability

6. How we use data

Provide GuardLink features (login, attendance, patrols, incidents, visitors, alerts)
Verify presence on site and support supervisor oversight
Security, fraud prevention, and compliance with operational / contractual obligations
Account management and workforce administration by authorized Berkeley UAE staff

We do not use this data for third-party advertising or marketing networks.

7. Sharing

Data is processed on systems operated for Berkeley UAE (including hosting for security.berkeleyuae.com). Authorized supervisors, managers, and administrators may access operational records for assigned projects. Client portal users may see limited operational information for their contracted sites. We do not sell personal data. Service providers that host or transmit the platform (for example cloud hosting or email delivery) may process data only to provide those services.

8. Security

Data in transit is protected with HTTPS / TLS. Access is restricted by role-based permissions and site assignment. Passwords are stored using secure hashing.

9. Retention

We retain operational and account data for as long as needed for security operations, legal, and contractual purposes, or until an authorized deletion / anonymization request is completed under our privacy process.

10. Your choices and deletion requests

Because GuardLink accounts are employer-managed, you can request access, correction, or deletion of personal data by contacting itsupport@berkeleyuae.com or your Berkeley UAE administrator / HR contact. We will handle requests through our internal privacy process (subject to legal and operational retention requirements).

You may deny or revoke location, camera, microphone, or notification permissions in your device settings; some GuardLink features will not work without them.

11. Children

GuardLink is not directed at children and is intended only for authorized adult workforce users.

12. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of GuardLink after an update means the revised policy applies.
